Located 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth along U.S. Highway 377 in Hood County, Granbury is situated along the banks of Lake Granbury, a 30-mile-long rural recreational haven. Created in 1969, when the Brazos River was dammed at the DeCordova Bend, Lake Granbury offers plentiful water sports and opportunities for fun and relaxation. Fishing, swimming, water skiing and sailing are enjoyed on the lake. The city of Granbury offers ample country charm. Many of the buildings on the town square are registered historic landmarks, including the Granbury Opera House.
